WESTFIELD – State Representative John Velis has been promoted in the United States Army.
Velis, who deployed to Afghanistan in early June, arrived as a Captain and was promoted to Major in the United States Army on the 4th of July.
Velis’ deployment is expected to last six months, with his return expected sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2018.
