Wahconah rallies past STM; Panthers tie

WESTFIELD – It was another tough outing for the St. Mary High School hockey team.
St. Mary’s latest loss was a heartbreaker as Wahconah rallied for five unanswered goals, storming back from a 2-0 deficit to stun the Saints 5-2 at Amelia Park Saturday.
Five different players scored to lead Wahconah, who took advantage of two power play opportunities.
“We came out strong but were not able to continue with the momentum,” St. Mary coach Don Goodreau said. “We can’t give up two goals as result of penalties and expect to win hockey games.”
St. Mary scored the game’s first two goals.
Ryan Gendron set up Shaun Gezotis for the first goal of the game in the opening period. Johnathan Spear took a Dominic Ceccarini pass, and scored to make it 2-0 Saints.
Wahconah rallied.
