Walter C. Maciorowski

WESTFIELD: flagWalter C. “Mac” Maciorowski, 82, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke. Born in Westfield to the late Frank and Bernice Maciorowski, he attended Westfield Vocational High School and served his country proudly in the Army for over 20 years. Throughout the span of his career in the Army, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, served in Vietnam, and received numerous medals and awards including: the Good Conduct Medal-4th Award, 2 Overseas Service Stars, the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars for part in VN Counteroffensive Phase II & III, and TET Offensive before retiring in 1969. Upon returning from the service, he joined Sears & Roebuck as a service technician, retiring more than 20 years later. Walter met the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Anna Michel Maciorowski in Wurzburg, Germany. They spent many of their years together traveling and raising their six devoted children. Walter lived for his family, always surrounding himself with the pride and joy of his life; his children and grandchildren. He was known for his distinct sense of humor and love of nature. His smile lit up a room, regardless of the pain he endured when asked, “How are you Mac?” his response was always “I feel great!” If he wasn’t inside enjoying watching a golf game, a Red Sox or Patriots game with his family, he could be found outside gardening and taking meticulous care of his yard, or enjoying his backyard swing with Anna. Walter is survived by his cherished wife, Anna (Michel) Maciorowski, his 5 loving children, Ricky Maciorowski and his wife Michele of Westfield, Peggy Granfield of Feeding Hills, Robert Maciorowski and his wife Jane of Newington, CT, Heidi Maciorowski of Westfield, and William Maciorowski and his wife Karen of Plainville, CT. Sadly, Walter and Anna’s daughter, M. Ursula Daigle, passed away in 1992. He also leaves his 6 precious grandchildren, Danielle, Erik, Alyssa, Ryan, Victoria and Samantha, his brother John Maciorowski of Westfield and his sister Agnes Lesniewski of Kansas City, Missouri along with several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by two brothers Henry and Chester Maciorowski and a sister Anna Bannish. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-6 PM at the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA. Funeral services and burial with military honors for Walter will be private, for immediate family only, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
