WESTFIELD – Westfield High School held its tenth annual College Fair on Wednesday, giving 600 juniors and seniors the opportunity to speak with admissions counselors of more than 100 colleges and universities, and with representatives of the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines and Air Force.
“This was the biggest we’ve had yet,” said WHS Principal Charles “Chuck” Jendrysik. Organized by the WHS Guidance Department, he said each grade was able to spend one hour speaking with representatives at the tables.
“I think it was very interesting. A lot of the students were identifying what their interests were. They received scholarship information, and were able to narrow down their college searches a little bit,” Jendrysik said.
Westfield Public Schools Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski was also impressed. “It was truly a pleasure to attend the WHS College Fair… I was very impressed by representation of 107 colleges and universities that want to work with our students,” Czaporowski said, adding, “I would also like to express my appreciation to Merylina Asselin and the rest of the Westfield High School Guidance Department for their effort in organizing this annual event.”
“I think it’s important, because it allows our students to realize they have many options after they graduate,” Jendrysik added.
