Air Compressor 5, Kiwanis 2
Playing with only 9 players, the Kiwanis baseball team fought hard in a 5 -2 defeat to Air Compressor. In 3 innings of work, Cam Cusack allowed 4 runs and recorded 7 strikeouts while his brother Colin allowed 1 run and struck out 2 batters. Ray Vergara played exceptionally well in the shortstop position throughout the game. Several Kiwanis batters reached base multiple times, including Luke Grabowski (single, 2 walks), Dylan Gibson (single, 1 walk, 1 run scored), and Vergara (2 walks, 1 run scored). Other players recorded hits including the Cusack brothers. Cole Page and Zach Ellis reached base via walks.

Hastie Fence 11, Kiwanis 1
Hastie Fence’s pitching staff shut down Kiwanis’ offense, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 10 batters. The two hits for Kiwanis were recorded by Dylan Gibson and Ethan Croteau. Other batters to reach base for Kiwanis included Ray Vergara (2 walks), Cam Cusack (hit-by-pitch), Anthony Schabowski (1 walk), Luke Grabowski (1 walk), Case Viamari (1 walk), Cole Page (1 walk), and Dylan St. Onge (fielders’ choice). Grabowski also scored the only run for Kiwanis. In the outfield, Page, Croteau, and Zach Ellis all had nice catches during the game.

Slovak Club 11 – Air Compressor Engineering 3
Air Compressor Engineering (2-3) had their usual strong offensive start against Slovak Club (2-2) Tuesday night at Cross Street. AC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a leadoff single by Nick Goodwin, a Jesse Paroline walk, a Grady Flaherty single and excellent base running. Al Rogers reached base on a 2 out single in the second inning but was stranded there as Slovak Club’s starting pitcher Jakob Wagner struck out the side. Cam Lisowski singled and scored in the top of the fourth inning for AC and Anthony Melo reached home on only the second walk of the game issued by Slovak Club. Wagner and reliever Nick Lenfest combined to strike out 10 AC batters and were backed by a powerful Slovak offense and solid defense. Air Compressor Engineering starting pitcher Al Rogers, in his Majors debut, pitched two solid innings.

Commercial 8, Kiwanis 0
The Commercial team put up 4 runs in the first inning and 4 runs in the third inning to cruise past Kiwanis. The Kiwanis team pitched six pitchers (Anthony Schabowski, Ethan Croteau, Cole Page, Brandon Kingsley, Colin Cusack, and Dylan Gibson) during the game. Both Cusack and Gibson only pitched 11 pitches each during their respective inning of work. Kiwanis only managed to record 5 hits – Ray Vergara (single), Cam Cusack (single, walk), Colin Cusack (single), Luke Grabowski (single), and Zach Ellis (single). The only other player to reach base via walk was Dylan St. Onge. The Commercial pitchers dominated Kiwanis by striking out 14 batters during the game. The Kiwanis team loaded the bases in the fourth inning but could not score. Gibson played extremely well in the field for Kiwanis. Kiwanis’ record drops to 1 – 3.

Air Compressor Engineering 10 – Moose 7
Air Compressor Engineering (3-3) got back on track Saturday afternoon with a win over visiting American League opponent Moose Club (1-4) at Paper Mill Field. After surrendering a run in the top of the first inning, Air Compressor Engineering answered back with 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Nick Goodwin was hit by a pitch, Jesse Paroline drew a walk, Cam Lisowski singled, Brendon Morse was hit by a pitch and Kaevon Eddington doubled to the center field fence.
Air Compressor Engineering tacked on 5 more runs in the second inning to take an 8-1 lead. Ethan “Beef” Connors singled to lead off the inning followed by singles from Al Rogers, Brannon Miele, Nick Goodwin and Jesse Paroline. Grady Flaherty doubled to cap off the scoring but was stranded at second base. Moose Club was not done fighting as they scored 4 runs in the top of the third inning, led by singles from Patrick Flaherty and Alex Provost. Both Goodwin and Paroline reached base and scored and Lisowski singled in the fourth inning. Moose added a run in the fifth on a leadoff triple by Flaherty and singles by Provost and Sebastian Gomez. Morse and Anthony Melo singled for Air Compressor in the bottom of the fifth but were left on base as Moose Club came up big defensively. Moose Club added a run in the sixth on a Nicholas Maslov walk, Darrin Schnopp double and Jaden Peterson single, but would come up short as AC retired the last two batters of the game.
AC pitchers Lisowski, Goodwin and Flaherty combined for an overall solid effort with 7 strikeouts. AC’s defensive highlight was center fielder Eddington tracking a potential base clearing deep fly ball in the swirling winds and delivering a perfect throw to first base, doubling up the base runner and ending the fifth inning Moose rally.

Dicks Sporting Good 6, 7B’s 4
Dicks Sporting Goods played their fourth game against previously undefeated 7B’s. Matt Bussell opened the game up with a spectacular pitching performance that lasted two innings. Jason Hurly backed him at the mound followed by Jason Melo who closed the game with a few quick pitches. Zac Cook smoked the bat going 3-3 and bringing Jace Castell home multiple times. It was an action packed game that led Dicks Sporting Good to a 6 to 4 win. – Courtesy of Westfield Little League
