Slovak Club 8, Camfour 0

Brennan Jarvis and Carlos Rodriguez combined to pitch a no-hitter to lead the way for Slovak Club in their win against Camfour. Jarvis pitched 5.1 innings, striking out eight batters before reaching his maximum pitch count. Rodriguez closed the door, getting the last two outs of the game. Derek O’dea made the defensive play of the day for Slovak while playing second base, making an incredible backhand stab for a ball crushed up the middle and throwing the runner out at first base. The offense for Slovak was led by Liam Poole with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Brennan Jarvis, Connor Medeiros, Chris Gage, Derek O’dea, Carlos Rodriguez and Collin Freeman also recorded hits for Slovak Club.

Commercial Distributing 7, Advance Manufacturing 0
A four-run explosion in the second inning carried Commercial Distributing to a 7-0 win in six innings over Advance at Cross Street on Saturday.
David Tirrell racked up three RBIs on three hits for Commercial Distributing. He homered in the second inning and singled in the first and fourth innings.
Adam Tremblay pitched lights out for Commercial Distributing. Advance managed just one hit off of Tremblay, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.
Commercial Distributing never looked back after the first, when it scored three runs on a groundout by Chris Wilda and an RBI single by Bobby Miele.

Slovak Club 10, Sons of Erin 0

American division rivals Slovak Club and Sons of Erin faced off at Cross Street with Slovak Club coming out on top. Slovak displayed strong pitching, timely hitting, and solid defense in the win. Slovak pitcher Troy Hevey struck out 9 batters, gave up only 4 hits, and allowed no runs in his 5 innings of work. The offense was led by Grayson Poole and Connor Medeiros with two hits each. Derek O’dea, Chris Gage, Carlos Rodriguez, and Jax Grady also recorded hits for Slovak Club. With the win, Slovak Club ran its winning streak to three games.

Westfield Police 7, Commercial Distributing 5
All good things must come to an end. This was true for Commercial Distributing on Sunday afternoon as they took their first loss of the season at the hands of Westfield Police.
After racing out to 11 straight wins, Commercial faced an outstanding lineup and bowed by a score of 7-5. Police registered 12 hits in the game by 8 different batters. They scored in 4 of the 6 innings.
Commercial responded early besting Police’s 2 runs in the 1st with three of their own. However, Police kept tacking on runs and Commercial could not keep up to the pace.
A highlight for Commercial was the multi-hit game of Jake LaBombard who singled twice and scored 2 runs. Bobby Miele and David Tirrell each had a hit and Ryan LaPoint was credited with an RBI that helped Commercial stay close.

Green Meadow Lumber 17, King Pest Control 13

Green Meadow Lumber out-slugged King Pest Control in a very high scoring game. Green Meadow scored in five of the six innings and King Pest Control scored in four frames. Green Meadow’s five run fifth inning proved to be the difference in the game. Green Meadow’s Jamison Crowley led the team with two bombs to the outfield.
King Pest Control got solid hitting contributions from Sullivan Donohue, Jayden Santiago, and Brandon Kingsley. Donohue was on base three times, scoring three runs with two hits and an RBI. Kingsley had three hits including two triples, two runs scored, and three RBI. Santiago had a huge day at the plate with three hits including a home run, a triple, two runs scored, and four RBI.
In the field, Green Meadow’s Josh Wagner did a great job at shortstop, and during one fantastic play, grabbed a grounder and fired it to first base, for a key final out.

Bertera Dodge 10 , Lil Dog Sales 5

Bertera Dodge and Lil Dog Sales met on Thursday. It was a very competitive matchup with Bertera (6-2) pulling away in the later innings to take a 10-5 win.
Starting pitchers Colby LaPoint and Ryan Major battled for the first three innings with Lil Dog Sales holding a 3-2 advantage. LaPoint would finish his pitching duties after 4 innings and with 12 strikeouts. He was relieved by Alex Guzman and Nick Lenfest who held Lil Dog Sales scoreless over the last two innings.
The offense was keyed by the clutch hitting of Antonio Phaneuf who singled driving in 2 runs. Emmett Garfield had a base hit and 2 RBI while Lenfest had a run scoring single. Multi-hit players in the game were LaPoint (3 singles, RBI) and Everett Stec (2 singles.)

Specialty Bolt 10, King Pest Control 9

Specialty Bolt won a close ballgame 10-9 over King Pest Control. The game was shortened to five innings due to time constraints. Specialty Bolt scored in 4 of the 5 innings and was able to score two runs in the top of the fifth inning and hold King Pest Control to no runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the win.
King Pest Control (3-6) had solid offensive contributions from Sullivan Donohue, Brandon Chapman, and Alejandro Rogers. Donohue went 2-4 with a single, a run scored and a bases clearing three run double in the 5 run second inning. Chapman reached base and scored twice while Rogers walked three times, scored two runs and stole two bases. Donohue also pitched well for King Pest Control in the middle innings allowing two runs and striking out three. The defensive play of the day occurred when Rogers, playing center field, fielded an extra-base hit, threw to the shortstop Brandon Kingsley, who fired a strike to Donohue to get the runner at the plate to end the top of the fifth inning.

Bertera Dodge 3 , Batter’s Box 2
On Sunday, Bertera Dodge was able to defeat Batter’s Box in a nail bitter by a score of 3-2.
Bertera grabbed a 3-0 lead after 3 innings. Colby LaPoint and Nick Lenfest each singled and scored in the 1st inning. Lenfest scored again in the 3rd after reaching base with a triple to left center. Antonio Phaneuf and Alex Guzman also reached base with a hit each.
Lenfest aided his bat with some fine pitching. He began the game and went 3 scoreless innings (7 strikeouts, 1 hit). Guzman took over and would battle through the final 3 innings. He managed 6 strikeouts.
The outcome of the game was in doubt right up to the last inning. Guzman found himself in a bases loaded jam with 1 out in the 6th. He was able to compose himself and strike out the final two batters of the game.

Bertera Dodge 9 , Fenway Westfield 4

For the second in 10 days Bertera Dodge and Fenway Westfield met on the diamond. And like the first meeting, Bertera won a hard fought game by a score of 9-4.
The bats for Bertera (8-2) were active. Andrew Navarro, Emmett Garfield, and Antonio Phaneuf all singled with Phaneuf also picking up an RBI. Three players managed multi-hit games including Everett Stec (2 singles, 2 RBI), Nick Lenfest (2 doubles, 2 RBI), and Colby LaPoint (3 singles).
Defensively, Bertera received a strong pitching performance from starter LaPoint. He was on the hill for 5 innings striking out 6 and allowing just 2 runs. Relief came from Lenfest who threw in the top of the 6th and struck out 3 batters. In the field, the team saw slick fielding from Garfield, Phaneuf, and brother Andre Phaneuf.

Green Meadow Lumber Season Update
Green Meadow Lumber 11, Bertera Dodge 9

Patrick Moore did a fantastic job getting on base during his three times at bat, resulting in 2 runs. Jacob Mello had a great run to the foul line fence for the final out of the game

Sean Crowley got his first hit of the year and the crowd went wild. Jeff Donahue fought through a very hard game and led his team all the way to the end.
Green Meadow Lumber 12, Little Dog Sales 6
Reid Embriglio was on fire and reached base 3 out of 3 times at bat, scoring each time. Katie Collins was quick on her feet, playing great defense in the outfield. Her efforts stopped Little Dog from scoring more runs.
Green Meadow Lumber has made great progress this year. The players are good sports, love the game, and come to have fun. The coaches are proud of their effort so far.

Air Compressor Engineering 13, Hastie Fence 3

Hastie Fence put up a good effort and never quit against a strong pitcher from Air Compressor. Cody Collins and Josh Mayo combined to record five strikeouts in a four inning game. These boys never quit and pushed across three runs in the fourth with a single by Nate Podmore, a walk by Cody Collins, a double by Mason Barnachez, and a single by Josh Sturmer. Great effort boys, we will get them next time!

Hastie Fence 7, Sons of Erin 6

Wow, what a game! Hastie Fence and Sons of Erin entering into a battle of wills on a sunny Saturday afternoon with Hastie coming out on top. Strong pitching by Nate Podmore, Mason Barnachez, and Josh Mayo combined for nine strikeouts in total.
It was a back and forth game with Hastie taking the initial lead off of hits by Nate Podmore, Cody Collins, and Mason Barnachez to put us up 1-0. In the second inning, with walks by Patrick Callahan and Anthony Pighetti combined with passed balls, another run came in. In the third inning, a walk by Cody Collins and a single by Josh Sturmer were the highlights. In the fourth, a single by Patrick Callahan, an exciting bunt single by Anthony Pighetti, and a single by Adam Blair were the highpoints of the inning. No runs were scored despite the strong attempt.
In the fifth inning, the strong hitting continued with singles by Cody Collins, Mason Barnachez, and Josh Sturmer, and a double by Joey Masciadrelli. The offensive outburst combined with smart base running by Ethan Baush pushed three more runs across the plate. On a dropped third strike, Baush ran hard to first making the throw have to go to first, which allowed two of those runs to cross.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, down by one, it was do or die time. Hastie Fence showed a never say die attitude and continued hitting the ball well. A single by Anthony Pighetti and a double by Adam Blair started off the inning putting two on for Cody Collins. With one swing of the bat, Collins brought in both runners with a game-winning walk off single!!! With this win, Hastie Fence improved to 3-6 for the season.

Commercial Distributing 7, Advance Manufacturing 0

Commercial Distributing beat Advance Manufacturing in a very well-played game at Cross Street Field. Trent Viamari sparked Advance on the defensive side of the ball by providing an outstanding performance on the mound. After yielding early runs in the first two innings, Viamari settled down and allowed only 1 hit and no runs to a very strong hitting Commercial team over his final three innings of work. Viamari retired 10 out of the final 12 batters he faced, including 1 strikeout, while completing his best outing of the season on the mound. Jackson Lambert contributed 10 putouts at first base and Owen Jurczyk made the catch of the year in CF on a sinking line drive to help support Viamari. Aidan Jubb provided the offensive highlight of the day for Advance with a double to deep right centerfield, while Jaden Gonzalez and Luke Bonini also reached base for the Boys in Blue.

Air Compressor 12, Advance Manufacturing 2

Air Compressor came out swinging and scored early and often on a Sunday morning game against Advance Manufacturing. Sean O’Keefe provided the firepower at the plate for Advance. In the third inning, following a sharp single by Niko Bacapolous, O’Keefe drove a ball deep to the centerfield fence driving in Bacapolous. O’Keefe came all the way around to score on the play when the throw from Air Compressor’s shortstop went out of play in an attempt to cut down O’Keefe at third. Trent Viamari also had an extra base hit for Advance with a double to right field while Jackson Lambert and Luke Bonini each contributed solid singles. Ethan Porter started on the mound for the Manufacturers and struck out one over 1 2/3 innings of work while Owen Jurczyk pitched in relief for Advance.

WHEELER LEAGUE

Fenway Westfield 8; Tucker’s Restaurant 3

Tucker’s Restaurant faced tough competitor Fenway Westfield at Cross Street field. Cameron Cusack was hot on the mound for Tucker’s restaurant, pitching 5 innings with 9 strikeouts. Cusask helped his cause at the plate by scoring twice for Tucker’s.
Noah Gardner pitched one inning in relief with 2 strikeouts. Gardner also had success at bat with a single. Eli Perez, Nick Maslar, and Mason Dolan all contributed with singles during the game. James Coach had an RBI double, and a nice defensive play at first. Mason Dolan had a 2 run RBI. Andrew Melo had two nice defensive plays at second base. Nick Maslar had two defensive plays at shortstop and stole home twice. Noah Luis had a nice defensive play at shortstop. Colin Cusack and Brandon Parks had good plays in the outfield.

Bertera Dodge 5, Fenway Westfield 2

Fenway Westfield had a strong game against Bertera Dodge, but fell short against tough competitors. Noah Luis pitched two innings with three strikeouts. Luis helped himself at the plate with one hit. James Coach pitched three innings with four strikeouts. Mason Dolan and Coach both had two hits, and they were able to score. Cameron Cusack had two hits, including one base hit. While catching, Cusack threw out a base runner attempting to steal second with the tag out by Noah Gardner. Michael Ritchie went 2 for 2 with two singles. Fenway saw many great defensive plays. Brandon Parks at shortstop, Mason Dolan at centerfield and second base, Andrew Luis at second base, and Eli Perez at centerfield. Perez caught a foul ball while catching.

Tucker’s Restaurant 10, King Pest Control 9

It was a late game rally starting in the bottom of the 6th and ending in an extra inning that boosted Tucker’s Restaurant to a 10-9 victory against King Pest Control.
The game started out strong for Tucker’s, with players Ted Dunn and Tucker Carey each contributing an RBI. In that same inning Mateo Reyes, Connor Niemiec and Ethan Thompson each crossed the plate once bringing the score to 3-0.
King Pest Control fought back in the following four innings, slamming Tucker’s with 9 runs scored. Defensively, Tucker’s made some great plays, including Thompson grabbing a live ball and tagging out a runner at 2nd and Reyes stopping a hard grounder to 2nd to make the final out of the 5th inning.
Tucker’s Restaurant didn’t give up when they were trailing by 3 and the team regained momentum in the 6th. Nathan Pudlo started the late game comeback with a single, followed by Thompson walking. Zachariah Gravel-Blaney hit a long 2 run single, and continued on later that inning to steal home tying the game 9-9.
In the 7th, Tucker’s Restaurant pitcher Niemiec held King Pest Control scoreless. It was then Tucker’s turn up at bat. Reyes walked and Dunn made it to 1st on a ground ball. Niemiec continued the streak with a single. Pudlo grounded out, but advanced Dunn to 3rd, who then stole home on a passed ball, winning the game for Tucker’s Restaurant with a score of 10-9.

King Pest Control 9, Bertera Dodge 4

King Pest Control scored seven runs in the final two innings to win a very competitive game against Bertera Dodge on Papermill 1. King Pest Control (4-7) and Bertera Dodge traded scoreless first and second innings. Bertera Dodge had a 4-2 lead after four innings but King Pest Control had a four run fifth inning, highlighted by a big two out two RBI single by Barrett Aube. King Pest Control scored three runs in the top of the sixth as Brandon Kingsley had a two out RBI triple.
King Pest Control got solid pitching performances by both Sullivan Donohue and Eli Petrone. The two combined to throw six innings with 14 strikeouts. Donohue also had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI. Petrone reached base three times with two hits. Alejandro Rogers and Jayden Santiago each scored two runs for King Pest Control.

Tucker’s Restaurant 6, Batter’s Box 5

Batter’s Box put up a tough fight throughout the whole game despite the excellent offense and defense of Tucker’s Restaurant. The persistence of Tucker’s players won out in the end giving them the 6-5 victory.
With Brendon Morse starting off on the mound, Batter’s Box was kept scoreless through the second inning. Batter’s Box gained momentum in the third inning, crossing the plate five times and leading the game with a score of 5-4.
Defensively, Tucker’s got fired up in the fourth inning. Center fielder, Tucker Carey, caught a deep fly ball to the warning track, showing his ability to run hard and fast, making the first out of the inning. Pitcher, Ted Dunn stopped the advance by picking off a hard grounder back to the mound and throwing to first for the second out. The third out came quickly as first baseman Connor Niemiec grabbed a shot preventing the runner from reaching first base, ending the inning. Niemiec and Morse led Tucker’s offensive each with three hits and two RBI. This win brings Tucker’s Restaurant’s record to 7-4.

U12 Softball
Game Date: May 19, 2015
Raven Hollow Winery 14, Richard’s Grinders 11

A trio of Raven Hollow Winery pitchers kept Richards Grinders in check on Tuesday. The combination of Megan Fitzgibbons, Megan St . Onge, and Erin Gour held Richard’s to just 4 hits in the 5-inning game. The final tally was 14-11 in favor of Raven Hollow.
Fitzgibbons and Gour were an integral part of the offense. Fitzgibbons had an RBI single along with 2 runs scored while Gour had a pair of singles and scored twice. Other hitters for Raven Hollow were Amy Pilecki (single) and Emma LaPoint (single, 3 runs).
With the win, Raven Hollow improved to 6-2.

U8 Softball
Game Date: May 21, 2015
Westfield Police 8, Dunkin Donuts 1

Westfield Police got excellent pitching from Alejandra Strange and Mia Tavares to lead them to an 8-1 win over Dunkin Donuts. Strange pitched three innings allowing only one run, and Tavares pitched two scoreless innings getting out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth leaving the tying runs on base.
Tavares also got the first extra base hit of the season for Police when she blasted a double in the first then scored on Grace Leduc’s two run single. Julia Bonfitto also had a good game reaching base all three times at bat and driving in two runs on bases loaded walks. Lily Trembley also recorded her first ever Little League hit. Leduc had a great day at the plate reaching base all three times on two hits and driving in three runs. Willa Haskins and Norah Bargatti also got RBI’s with a walk and hit by pitch with the bases loaded respectively. In the end, Police improved to 4-1-1 on the year with another great team effort.
