WESTFIELD – Westfield State senior Chelsea Moussette soared as she led the Owls (13-12, 10-2) with 21 points to notch their 103-59 win against MCLA (2-20, 0-11) on Saturday afternoon.
Westfield State honored four hardworking seniors pregame in Moussette (Southampton, Hampshire Regional), Alyssa Camara (Quincy, Mass), Cayla Durkee (Georgetown, Mass), and Natalia Falcone (Millbury, Mass). The women not only celebrated these seniors and their win, but also made history for tying in a school record for the most three pointers in a single game (22).
Mousette was 4-for-4 in the second half from behind the three-point arc and added eught assists and six steals.
Junior Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass) also notched 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and freshmen Alison Mendel scored 15 points. Camara had 10 points for the Owls as well.
At halftime the Owls led 52-22, sinking another 51 points in the second half. All 14 members of the team contributed points during the game, making it a successful group effort.
For MCLA, freshman Jasmine Pszczola (Agawam, Mass) had 17 points and freshman Maddie Teta (Troy, New Hampshire) had 13 points. Senior Erika Ryan (Clifton Park, NY) grabbed 16 rebounds.
