Westfield State handles Smith, 16-7

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Amanda Bouchard scored a game-high four goals, and senior Maura Stack and freshman Megan Griffin each tallied three goals and an assist to pace Westfield State University to a 16-7 women’s lacrosse victory over Smith College on Tuesday evening, March 26.
Westfield (3-2) scored eight unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead with 18:20 remaining in the first half. Bouchard and Griffin both scored twice during the scoring run.

The Owls led at halftime, 11-4, and scored five straight goals early in the second half for a 16-5 advantage over the outmanned Pioneers with 22:21 remaining in the game.
Westfield senior Sadie Graham had two goals and an assist and sophomore Bridget Everett scored two goals.
Freshman goalie Mimi Khampaeng was clutch between the pipes with 13 saves and a team-high four ground balls.
Scoring two goals apiece for Smith were Jenny Estes, Jessica Lillquist, and Christina Vara. Lillquist recorded a game-high six ground balls.
Westfield only outshot Smith, 26-25, and the Owls dominated the draw controls, 17-8.
