Westfield State holds events for International Women’s Day

WESTFIELD (WWLP) – For nearly 30 years, Westfield State University has held events dedicated to the awareness of women’s rights and issues involving women globally. The university has organized a month’s worth of activities and events called “Women’s Herstory Month,” consisting of guest speakers and film screenings.
For International Women’s Day, a panel of inspirational women spoke with students. Guest speaker, photographer and journalist Diana Mara Henry, talked about the changes in civil rights for women throughout the ages.
“They are inspirations, students look up to them,” WSU Alumna Simbrit Paskins said. “The crowd was filled because the students are coming they want to be here, so they aren’t just coming for credits. They want to see their professors up there and talking about things that matter to them.”
The events are run through the University’s Department of Diversity and Inclusion. To learn about other events being held for Woman’s Herstory Month, you can visit WSU’s student activity page.
