Westfield ‘Y’ gymnasts impress

On Sunday, March 10, the Westfield YMCA Gymnastics Program attended the 2013 Western League YMCA Gymnastics Championships at the Greenfield “Y” with almost 140 gymnasts from three area YMCAs – Westfield, Greenfield, and Hampshire.
And the results were impressive for the Whip City.
The Westfield YMCA’s Level 1s did a great job, placing first. In the 5-6 year old age group, Kenzie Kluiko placed 1st on bars, 2nd on vault and 3rd all-around. Makayla Rivera placed 1st on floor and vault and 1st all-around. Teagan Lees placed 1st on every event and all-around in the 7 & up age group. Zoe Stevenon placed 2nd on floor, beam and bars and 2nd all-around. Madison Koziol placed 2nd on vault and 3rd all-around.
In the 7-8 year old age group, Level 2, Izmary Reyes placed 1st on floor, beam & vault and all-around and 2nd on bars. Mackenzie Crawford, in the 9 year olds & up age group, placed 1st on bars, 3rd on vault and 2nd all-around. Brianna Crawford placed 1st on floor and vault and 3rd
all-around. Alexandra Sienko placed 1st on beam and 3rd on floor. The Level 2 Team placed 2nd.
The Level 3s had a great meet, and with only 3 of them, placed 2nd as a team. Rylee Altieri, 8, placed 2nd on floor and beam and 3rd all-around. Her teammate, Madelyn Powers, placed 1st on floor & beam, 2nd on vault and 1st all-around. In the 10-11 year olds age group, Nicole Marek placed 1st on floor, beam, bars and all-around.
In the 12 year olds & up age group, Level 4, Bianca Hiltz, placed 1st on beam, 2nd on bars and 1st all-around. Addie Cook placed 2nd on beam and 3rd on bars, vault and all-around. Melanie Katykhin placed 1st on floor and bars and 2nd all-around and Sarah Prescott placed 2nd on floor and 3rd on beam. The Level 4 Team placed 3rd.
The Level 5 Team did very well and placed 1st as a Team. Zoe Oprecht, in the 9 year old age group placed 2nd on floor and beam. 10 year old, Sierra Moulton, placed 2nd on floor and vault. In the 11 year old age group, Lindsey Jacobs placed 2nd on vault and 4th on floor and bars. Julia Maryanski placed 2nd on beam and 4th on vault and all-around. Megan Hawks placed 6th on beam and vault. Laura DelMonte placed 2nd on floor and 3rd on bars, vault and all-around. Avery Joi Farquharson placed 1st on every event and all-around. In the 12 year old & up age group, Isabella Rivera placed 1st on floor & bars and 1st all-around. Sabrina Hawks, placed 1st on beam and vault and 2nd all-around Level 6, Miranda Wozniak had a great meet, scoring her highest all-around of the season. She placed 1st on every event and all-around. Tai’le Oprecht competed on floor and placed 2nd and placed 4th on bars.
Level 7, Sophie Carellas, placed 2nd on beam and bars, 3rd on vault and 2nd all-around. Level 8, Samantha Dame, placed 1st on floor, 2nd on bars and 4th all-around. Hannah Liquori placed 2nd on vault and 5th all-around.
The Level 8 Team placed 2nd.
Level 9, Taryn Hamel had her best meet all season, scoring her highest all around and qualifying to compete State & Regional Championships. Anna Grady, Xcel Gold, placed 3rd on floor and vault.
