LUDLOW – The Westfield High School boys’ tennis team swept singles’ play to escape Ludlow with a 3-2 win over the Lions Tuesday.
Westfield’s top singles player, Loeiz Briand continued his season-long winning streak with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ludlow’s Ian D’Angelo. Chris Unger won a thriller at second doubles, 6-7, (10-12), 6-4, 6-4; and, Jacob Barbeiri won at third singles, 6-1, 6-0.
The Bombers’ second doubles pair, Aaron Caplette and Tilman Riemer lost a heartbreaker, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6, (7-5).

Zach Slepchuk (7-5, 6-2 winner), Zach Brown (6-2, 6-2), and Corey Clemente (6-4, 6-1) won at first, second, and third singles, respectively, for St. Mary (6-4). Saints’ No. 1 singles pair, Austin Gois and Matt Benoit were victorious, as were second doubles pair, Jake Neilsen and Kieran O’Donnell, who won their third straight match.
