ALLISON MORIN

ALLISON MORIN

WESTFIELD – Despite epic condition of cool, dry weather on their home course at Stanley Park, the Westfield girls’ cross country team lost its second meet in a row, falling to Minnechaug, 22-33, Tuesday.
Still, Bombers’ Alli Morin finished first in a blistering 18:58.
“Alli seems to have overcome all the maladies that sidelined her at the end of the indoor track last winter and she is back stronger than ever,” Westfield girls’ cross country coach Michael Rowbotham said. “Although the girls are running very well and rerecording many personal best times, this year the Bombers find themselves in the most elite division of the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference based on the school’s outstanding overall performance in the past few years.”
Westfield first-year junior Rachel Cousins finished in 24:18, followed by fellow freshman Julie Guarente (24:50), first-year junior Hannah Giffune (24:52), and freshman Shannon Sullivan. Ellie Dufraine, Amaya Diana, Sam Tuttle, Carley Censebella, and Grace Templeton rounded out the top 10 for the Bombers.
