Winifred E. Zarichak

WESTFIELD – Winifred E. (Frisbie) Zarichak, 94, of Westfield died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in a local nursing home. Winifred was born in Quincy, MA on January 27, 1918 to Frederick and Blodwen (Walters) Frisbie.
She was a 1934 graduate of Springfield Technical High School and was employed as a secretary for the Berndt & Larson law firm formerly Anderson & Berndt for 38 years, retiring in 1993. Winifred was the widow of Paul C. Zarichak who died on December 31, 2002 and was a communicant of St. Peter and St. Casimir Parish. She was a volunteer at the Southwick Public Library, a member of the Friends of the Southwick Library and the Southwick Historical Society. Winifred was a fan of the UConn Girls Basketball Team and the Boston Red Sox. Winifred enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making greeting cards on the computer.
She leaves a sister, Miriam F. Stone of Ludlow and several nieces and nephews. Winifred was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Frisbie.
The funeral will be Friday, October 26, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Peter’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A Calling hour will precede the service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Winifred’s memory be made to the Southwick Public Library, 95 Feeding Hills Road, Southwick, MA 01077.
