SOUTHWICK – Winifred “Louise” L. Tagliavini, 96, passed away with family close by on August 12, 2022, at the Suffield House in Suffield, CT. Her faith and family sustained her all her life, and she now rests with the Lord.
Born in Holyoke, MA on October 1, 1925, the daughter of the late Theodore G. and Winifred C. (Porter) Stuebi, she attended Classical High School and graduated from North High School in Worcester in 1943.
In 1947, she graduated from Clark University with her Bachelor’s Degree. She married Carlo A. Tagliavini on September 25, 1948. She then received her Master’s in Education in 1966 from Springfield College. For 11 years, Louise was employed as the Director of Student Services for Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing before retiring in 1979.
As a longtime resident of Southwick, Louise was a faithful communicant of the Southwick Congregational Church where she served as a Deaconess. She also was an Executive Director for the Western MA Girl Scouts Council. Following her and Carlo’s retirement, they relocated to Naples, FL. They also resided in Mt. Pleasant, SC before Louise returned to Southwick following Carlo’s passing in 2008. They were married for 60 years.
Besides her parents and her husband Carlo, Louise was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Theodore G. Stuebi, Jr. and Betty Stuebi. To cherish her memory, she leaves her children Carl E. Tagliavini and his wife Patti of Westfield, Carol Hopkins and her husband David of Old Saybrook, CT, David Tagliavini and his wife Lynda of Windsor Locks, CT, Mark Tagliavini and his wife Tina of Westfield and Martha Senf and her husband Todd of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister Elizabeth P. Swick of Fort Belvoir, VA., as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 2 – 4 PM at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick. A private funeral service for the family will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022.
