WRITERS’ SERIES: Daydreaming in your love

Editor’s note: With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, we are reminded about the preciousness of love – and how love means something different to each one of us. We asked members of the WhipCity Wordsmiths to share their thoughts on love – and as always – their submissions are thought-provoking, eloquent, and in many cases, personal. Our series today features Shamiya Marty of Westfield.

WESTFIELD-Shamiya Marty has been writing poetry since 2017.

“It’s a go to when I need to get my thoughts out or what is on my mind,” said Marty, adding “it’s a form of meditation.”

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marty was hosting open mics in Westfield regularly, not only sharing her poetry, but encouraging others to share their works.

“It’s a great way to connect with people and what we all have in common as well,” said Marty.

Her latest submission as part of the WhipCity Wordsmiths writers’ series is titled “Daydreaming in your love.”

Daydreaming in your love

Looking into your eyes

Really makes time fly

Talking to you it’s a dream

And a wish come true.

Hearing your voice is like listening

To soft music.

I couldn’t have made a better choice

Expressing your love and emotion to me is a great sight to see

I couldn’t be happier that you chose me.
