WSU hosting alumni art exhibit

WESTFIELD- An Alumni Art Show will be featured at Westfield State University until Oct. 5 in the Arno Maris Art Gallery in WSU’s Ely Center hosting the works of a dozen graduates of the university.

The gallery began in September and features the sculptures and paintings of WSU alumni Jacob Capone ’19, Dan Delisle ’16, Michelle Pescetta ’04, Diane Savino ’82, Joan Steinmeyer ’92, and JoAnne M. Zimmerman’77; an illustration by Casey Desilets ’11, drawings by Micayla Levesque’18 and Anthony Sarkis ’19, ceramics by Jill Fahey’14 and Mary Ann (Sharland) Roussi’ 77; and printmaking and sculpture by Lee Connolly Weill ’75.

An artist’s reception will be Sept. 28 during WSU’s Homecoming Weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m., at the conclusion of the show, a reception for WSU’s Class of 1967 will be held and sponsored by WSU’s Office of Alumni Relations.

Much of the artwork that will be on display will also be for sale to prospective buyers. Some of the artists have an artist’s statement posted alongside some of their works, including Jill Fahey from the class of 2014.

“I have been working with clay for 30 years. I began my studies at the Worcestor Center for Crafts before creating my own studio,” said Fahey’s statement, “I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westfield State University in 2014 with a concentration in pottery, continuing on to earn my Masters in Gallery Management and exhibition specialization in 2018 from the Western State Colorado University.”

The exhibit and artists’ reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
