WESTFIELD – Senior Maura Stack scored a game-high seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) and sophomore Amanda Bouchard tallied four goals and an assist to lead Westfield State University to a 16-6 victory over Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women’s lacrosse action on Saturday evening.
The Owls boosted their overall record to 6-2 with their fourth straight victory; they are 2-0 in the MASCAC. Fitchburg drops to 2-5 and 0-2.
The Owls outscored the Falcons, 8-3 in both halves. Westfield snapped an early 1-1 tie on three consecutive goals by Bouchard. Goals from Bouchard and Stack gave Westfield an 8-2 lead with 10:28 remaining in the first half.
Westfield head coach Greg Styles cleared the bench as 23 players saw action. The Owls outshot the Falcons, 39-16.
Scoring two goals were Stephanie Lenhardt, Sadie Graham and Megan Griffin, who also game highs of five ground balls and five draw controls.
Scoring two goals for Fitchburg were Jessica Bartlett and Chelsea Roberts.
