WESTFIELD-Students of Young Singers of Greater Westfield will fill the Church of the Atonement with the sounds of the holiday season on Dec. 14.
“Young Singers has a mix of students from different schools, grades and towns who come together to celebrate a love of music,” said Kerry Cipoletta, artistic director. She also serves as choral music director at Westfield Intermediate School, and teaches the fifth and sixth grade choruses and sixth grade general music. Cipoletta is also the director of the drama club at Westfield Intermediate School.
Cipoletta noted that the choir features students in grades 5-8 who rehearse weekly to develop vocal skills, musical literacy, and a “beautiful choral sound.”
The winter concert begins at 2 p.m. at the church on Court Street. Refreshments will be provided and a reception will follow to meet the performers.
Young singers performing include Noah Perkins, Jaidyn Hawkins, Luke Bulan, Bennie Noska, Arianna Blake, Ella Hamel, Madeleine Hamel, Phoebe Rouse, Anthony Distefano, Aaron Boyd, Gabriella Pichardo and Skyler Cook.
Mackenzie Carvalho is providing the musical accompaniment.
Cipoletta said the concert will feature traditional holiday songs, as well as songs shared by different faiths.
“We will also have some audience participation for the carols,” said Cipoletta.
The concert is offered free to the public with a freewill offering planned.
“We invite the public to hear some beautiful music and get in the holiday spirit,” said Cipoletta.
