WESTFIELD – It is apparent that when the Westfield and Agawam high school hockey teams meet, no lead is ever safe.
Agawam rallied from a 1-0 deficit, scoring three unanswered third period goals to stun Westfield 3-1 Friday night at Amelia Park Ice Arena. The Brownies scored all three of their goals in the final 11 minutes, two seconds.
Westfield clung to a 1-0 lead through two periods, following a first period score from Chris Sullivan. Sam Evans assisted on the play.
Agawam received its first goal 3:58 into the final period when Seamus Curran stuffed the equalizer in between a sea of orange and black jerseys into the net. The Brownies notched the game-winner on Elijah Bard’s rebound midway through the period.
Agawam tacked on an empty-netter on a shorthanded effort (6-on-4) in the final 90 seconds when the puck squirted out to Cory Pfau on a face off in the Brownies’ zone and Pfau’s full rink shot trickled in untouched.

Chicopee went on a 6-0 run to go ahead by three, but Isaiah Headley and John O’Brien converted consecutive 2-pointers to reclaim a one-point lead, 44-43 with just over five minutes remaining.
