Team effort sacks ‘The Putz’

The old adage – a little help goes a long way – could not be any more accurate for one lucky winner in our weekly pro football contest, “Beat ‘The Putz’”.
Southwick resident Donna Johnson did not turn to the latest point spreads or professional prognosticators, but rather one little pundit for her pigskin advice, her 11-year-old grandson, Jesse.
Donna Johnson, using the information provided to her by Jesse, put together an impressive 11-1 record in Week 5 to claim a gift certificate to The Tavern Restaurant.
NFLlogo“I’ll have to take him out and buy a lottery ticket,” Donna said, jokingly.
Donna’s only loss in Week Five was Seattle, which got upended by Cincinnati.
It is not the only time Donna has reaped the benefits from her grandson though. The tag-team effort produced a first-place finish in our contest in 2013.
Four other participants managed 11-1 records last Sunday, but Donna’s 50-point tiebreaker total proved to be the difference.
Anyone who beat my ho-hum mark of 8-4 has been entered into our grand prize drawing for a flat-screen television, courtesy of Manny’s TV & Appliances, at season’s end.
Anyone feeling deflated about their recent performance over picking the winners thus far this season will get the opportunity to do it again in Week 6, highlighted by our Sunday night tiebreaker game featuring the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts.
Good luck everyone and GO PATS!!! (That one is for my self-proclaimed “minion,” our chief statistician Melissa Hartman. Thanks Melissa!)
