WESTFIELD – A Feeding Hills woman was found to have crashed into a utility pole on Feeding Hills Road early this morning and was transported to Baystate Medical Center with apparently life-threatening injuries.
A caller reported the crash at 1:24 a.m. and said that the operator of the vehicle appeared to be unconscious but did not appear to be trapped in the 2008 Mazda sedan.
The caller stated that the car’s airbag had deployed and the utility pole was hanging over the car with wires drooping toward the roadway.
Dual response was dispatched and the responding firefighters removed Lauren A. Braska, 21, of 72 Ridgeway Drive, Feeding Hills, from the passenger door of the car. She was immediately transported to Baystate Medical Center where she was admitted.
Agawam police were notified and asked to inform her family that she had been taken to the hospital.
Later in the morning she was reported to be in critical condition.
Police report that it is not known when the crash occurred or why Braska’s car crossed the roadway and struck the pole.
A Verizon representative called police to advise that a crew had been dispatched to replace the pole.
