WARE – Ware rallied for eight unanswered runs to defeat Gateway at home in a high school softball game Thursday, 8-2.
Dana Britland went 2-for-3 Gabby Dame and Audrey Gamble each had a base hit and scored a run.
On the mound, Gamble struck out three batters, and walked just one.
“The score doesn’t tell the story of the game,” Gateway coach Matt Bonenfant said. “We put runners on … we just didn’t push any across.”

“They’re putting it together – we have a moment here or there,” he continued. There’s just an expectation here now … I think we’ll get some wins now going forward.”
Bombers escape EL with win
Westfield 10, East Longmeadow 8
Hayley Moniz (4-for-4, two runs scored), Casey Almeida (3-for-3, triple, walk, three runs), Lindsey Kiltonic (2-for-4, run), and Morgan Zabielski (2-for-5, double, run) landed multiple hits for Westfield in a two-run victory on the road.

Westfield swept in doubles play – No. 1 Gabriella Rivera and Natalie Mitchell defeated Agawam’s Lydia Koury and Ariana Korez, 7-6, 6-2; No. 2 Emma Macleod and Camille Mckenzie topped Jordyn Comtois and Aimee Theroux, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6.
Westfield’s Clara Hink nearly upended Emma Armfield in first singles, falling 2-6, 6-2, 2-6.
Armstrong tough in defeat

Ibz Zia won a tough match against St. Mary’s Will Armstrong, rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory at first singles. Michael Comalli also had to battle, overcoming a strong effort from Patrick Boyle at second singles.

Tristan Viale (6-1, 7-5), Lyle Libanin (6-0, 6-0), and Shayne Holloway (6-0, 6-1) swept singles play for Westfield.
Bombers’ Jimmy Knapik and Matt Roberts prevailed at first doubles, 6-0, 6-0; Jaylen Bodendorf and Jake Perpetua won 6-0, 6-0.
