WESTFIELD – Superintendent of Schools Stefan Czaporowski has announced that the Class of 2019 graduation ceremonies for Westfield Technical Academy and Westfield High School will be held at Barnes Regional Airport. Graduation is usually held at Bullens Field, but the field will not be available this year. “When we learned that Bullens Field will be undergoing an extensive renovation later this spring, we quickly began to research alternative locations. While we could have graduation indoors at the schools, that would strictly limit the number of guests permitted to attend”, said Superintendent Czaporowski.
The School Department has been collaborating with Eric Billowitz, Airport Manager, and his staff over the last month to work out all the details. “We are happy to help. While there is more planning to be done, we will be ready”, said Billowitz. “Because the City is restricting use of Bullens Field this summer, both Westfield High and Westfield Tech will have an exciting opportunity to celebrate graduation at Barnes Airport. It is a unique situation that will leave great memories to the Class of 2019”, added Mayor Brian Sullivan.
Graduations for the Class of 2019 will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. for Westfield Technical Academy and Friday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. for Westfield High School.
