12:47 a.m.: suspicious person, Mainline Drive, a patrol officer reports he observed two male parties near a vehicle and one had a cup which he discarded when the saw the officer, the officer reports he approached and found that the discarded cup contained alcohol and the person who discarded it was found to be younger than the legal drinking age, the other person was not drinking and said there was no liquor in the vehicle, the officer reports that no alcohol was found in the vehicle but a bottle of liquor was found nearby which the underage youth claimed, Grygorii Kravets, 18, of 126 Union St., was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor;
1:22 a.m.: assault, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he saw a state trooper who was speaking with a woman and a man with them flagged him down, the officer reports that the woman said that a friend had been giving her a ride home when they saw her former boyfriend, the woman said that although she told her friend not to stop the other woman pulled over and her former boyfriend approached the door but was stymied by the vehicle’s locked doors until the operator released the locks, the woman said that her former boyfriend then grabbed her hair and clothing and pulled her from the vehicle, a male friend observed the altercation and intervened by flagging down the trooper whereupon the suspect fled, a criminal complaint was filed;
5:48 a.m.: assault, North Elm Street, a caller reports woman just ran past on the railroad tracks yelling that she was in pursuit of a man who had attacked her boyfriend, the responding officer reports a woman was found further up North Elm Street who said that her boyfriend had been assaulted, the officer found the alleged victim who had scratches on his arms and a bump on his head and said that he had been assaulted by a person known to him by his first name who struck him with a length of steel reinforcing rod, the man said that his assailant blamed him for the recent discharge of a relative from the victim’s workplace, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
8:30 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
8:31 a.m.: breaking and entering, Holland Avenue, a caller reports her vehicle was broken into, the responding officer reports the caller said that she was away from Friday until Monday morning and when she returned to her vehicle which had been parked behind her apartment building she found the contents had been disturbed and her GPS device had been stolen, the woman said she was almost certain she had locked the car but the officer noted no signs of forcible entry;
9:34 a.m.: vandalism, The Meadows Apartments, 34 Meadow Street, a resident came to the station to report that barbeque sauce had been smeared on the trunk of his car, the complainant said there was no permanent damage;
1:08 p.m.: assist citizen, Frederick Street, a caller reports she is the legal guardian of her grandchild and the child’s mother is at her residence attempting to take the child, the responding officer reports the grandmother’s guardianship was confirmed and he attempted to explain to the child’s mother that the court had awarded care of the child to her mother but the younger woman refused to listen to reason and kept yelling and swearing saying that she was the child’s mother and she was going to take the child and never return, the officer reports that the child’s grandmother was advised of her protective order options and a report was filed with the Department of Children and Families;
2:41 p.m.: fire, Jefferson Street, a caller from Franklin Street reports seeing smoke coming from the Jefferson Street area, the responding firefighters report a resident was found to be burning illegally and was required to extinguish his fire;
2:49 p.m.: vandalism, Paper Street, a caller reports the windshield of her car was smashed, the responding officer reports the woman said that the car was parked in the street about 10 p.m. Sunday and on Monday afternoon the damage was discovered;
4:25 p.m.: disturbance, Exchange Street, a caller reports her boyfriend assaulted her, the responding officer reports the male party said that during an argument his girlfriend threw a plate across the apartment and he pushed her on to a bed, the female party said the man pushed her on to the bed and held her down, the woman showed the officer minor red marks on her arms, Joshua J. Kellogg, 20, of 10 Exchange St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
5:12 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Smith Avenue, an off duty officer requests assistance with a traffic stop, the responding officer reports the off duty officer observed a vehicle operated erratically by a junior operator whose passengers included persons who were not family members, the officer reports a citation will be issued during his next working shift;
5:45 p.m.: animal complaint, Garden Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain about a dog which sometimes runs loose and has previously assaulted her dog, the responding officers reports the woman said the large black Labrador retriever dog’s most recent infraction was earlier in the day when it pushed through her screen door and attacked her dog, the dog is believed to live on Hagan Avenue;
6:57 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a traffic bureau officer reports he observed a vehicle operating on Union Street with only one registration plate, the vehicle was stopped on North Elm Street and the officer noted that the rear registration plate was obscured by a plastic cover and the vehicle did not have a valid inspection sticker, the operator said he did not have his out-of-state license with him, the officer reports that a check revealed the man’s license in the Commonwealth had been suspended, Ashraf Wadei Hussein, 20, of 1274 Suffield St., Agawam, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended as an habitual traffic offender, for operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker and for a number plate violation;
9:12 p.m.: fraud, Munger Hill Road, a resident came to the station to complain of Internet fraud, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had searched the Internet for a vacation rental in Rhode Island and found an option she elected to pursue, the woman said that she made contact with a potential landlord and sent several hundred dollars to him via Western Union, the woman said that she called the landlord and became suspicious when the call was answered in California by a person with a pronounced foreign accent, the woman said she returned to the website where she found the rental listing and found the posting had been removed, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
11:56 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Half Mile Falls Park, North Elm Street, a dispatcher reports that persons were seen on security cameras drinking alcohol and urinating in the park, the responding officer reports both parties were advised of the hours of operation of the park and sent on their ways.
