WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls’ lacrosse team got an assist in its quest for a postseason berth, much to the chagrin of its opponent.
Westfield exploded for four goals in the first 95 seconds of Monday’s game and cruised to a 21-4 thrashing of visiting St. Mary. With the victory, the Bombers must now win three of its final four games to earn a tournament spot.
“Hopefully we’re on a roll now,” Westfield coach Paul Fenwick said.
Ashlee O’Conner, Mackenzie Millikan, Mackenzie Macloud, and Ashley Owen each netted a goal in Westfield’s early offensive outburst. Millikan went on to score four goals and three assists, Owen finished with four goals, and Macloud contributed a total of two goals and two assists.
Haley Roberts (assist) and Mary Boudreau each recorded hat tricks for Westfield, scoring three goals apiece.
Bombers’ goalie Maileen Kozack collected six saves.
Becca Streeter, Lauren Chapdelaine, Andrea Watson, and Bella Butler scored one goal apiece for St. Mary.
