Lancers, Rams prevail

WESTFIELD – Perennial powerhouse Longmeadow proved to be tough once again, shutting down Westfield in a girls’ cross country meet at the Bombers’ home course in Stanley Park on Tuesday, 18-45.
A total of 19 of 23 rostered Westfield girls were fit to race and turned in good times overall on the relatively flat 3.1 mile course.
Longmeadow girls were first across the line with Emma Gerchberg (21:42) followed by Emily Valencia (21:53).
Westfield’s Sophie Gronbeck (22:04) finished first for the Bombers in third overall, and was the only Westfield girl among the top 16 finishers. Other top 10 of Westfield girls were in the top 30 finishers and included Julie Guarente (24:36), Ellie Dufraine (25:17), Victoria Sardinha (25:34), Casey Becker (25:38), Kaleigh Florek (26:16), Allie Dinopolous (26:24), Sam Tuttle (26:29), Ally Davis (26:29) and Paige Neylon (26:35).
Bombers’ junior Casey Becker delivered an all time personal best (25:38), while Victoria Sardinha, Ally Davis (26:29), and Paige Neylon (26.35) recorded season best times.

McKinney, Rams race past Saints
Southwick 15, St. Mary 50

Southwick swept the top 10 with Emily McKinney (23:42), Samantha Smith (23:43), Reece Couture (24:21), Caroline Clarke (24:40), Cassie White (24:41), Maggie Drohen (25:46), Abby Howe (26:02), Gabriela Peterson (26:02), Emma Morton (26:16), and Erin Sussmann (28:14) leading the way.
St. Mary, which lacked a full roster to qualify for a team score, still managed to crack the top 15. Saints’ Casey Rutledge placed 11th (29:15), and Madison Bruno was 14th (29:50).
