SPRINGFIELD – Senior Holly Arel won two events and was part of two winning relay teams as Westfield State University defeated Western New England University 148-114 in a women’s swimming dual meet on Sunday.
Arel won the 50 butterfly in a time of 29.81 seconds, and claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:05.78. She also swam the leadoff leg of the Owls winning 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
Amanda Labriola won the 200 backstroke, Laura Sauriol took home the 50 backstroke, and freshman Tia Pariseau won the 50 breast stroke for the Owls.
Westfield State is now 2-3 in dual meet competition this year. The Owls will host their final home meet of the season next Saturday, January 24, swimming against the University of St. Joseph at the Ely Pool at 1:00 p.m.
