Blue Devils stuff Bombers

WESTFIELD – If you missed a viewing of The Grinch this holiday season, one area sports team took on that role to end the week.
The Northampton Blue Devils delivered a mean loss to Westfield in a high school girls basketball tilt Friday night, upending the Bombers 73-47.
It was a tough loss for the Bombers (4-3) at home.
Northampton produced three double-digit scorers – Amanda Mieczkowski (24 points), Emily Sledzieski (13), and Lulu Kesin (10). The top three Blue Devils combined for an astounding 10 3-pointers.
Chandler Pedolzky led Westfield with 22 points.
Westfield will attempt to rebound next week. The Bombers return to action Fri., Jan. 4 at home against Holyoke. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

Shea, Burke pace Rams
Mahar 53, Southwick 28

Kathleen Shea and Hannah Burke scored seven apiece to lead Southwick.
In JV action, Michelle St. Jacques tallied 12 to lead the Rams past Mahar, 35-28.

Torres leads Tigers
Renaissance 59, Westfield Technical Academy 24

Sydney Dodds scored 20 points, and Da-sha Wilson had 13 for Renaissance. Ashley Torres led Westfield Technical Academy with 12 points. TIgers’ Jeika Rios added five.

Waters, Gators chase ‘Cats
Gateway 31, Sci-Tech 25

Gateway improved to 3-2 with a narrow victory. Gators’ Lily Waters led all scorers with 11, and teammate Becca Herman had eight.

In other games, St. Mary’s welcomed Duggan Academy in a season opener at Westfield Intermediate School on Southampton Road. No details were provided.
