Bombers bounce back

WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ basketball team earned a much-needed victory Monday.
Westfield returned to its winning ways thanks to a collective effort from the team’s core players. Javi Santos recorded a double-double to lead the Bombers, netting 19 points and hauling down 15 rebounds.

Westfield’s Luis Castro pumped in 15 points. Aidan Dunn and Gabe Piepergerdes were phenomenal on the defensive end of the court for the Bombers.
With the victory Westfield improved to 2-4 overall. The Bombers return the court Thursday at Sci-Tech. Tip off is at 7 p.m.

Red Raiders nip Rams
Hampshire 58, Southwick 55

Greg Laroche scored a game-high 23 points, and teammates Jacob Bihler and Matthew Babyak recorded 15 and 14 points, respectively to lift Hampshire in a thriller at Southwick.
Matt Daley led Southwick with 18 points. Rams’ Nick Hough had 12.

Hornets sting Tigers
McCann Tech 65, Westfield Technical Academy 42

McCann Tech went on a 19-7 run to open the game and extended their lead to 40-15 at the half en route to a convincing victory at Westfield Tech.
Ethan Sheldon and Logan Tower scored a game-high 17 points apiece to lead McCann. Westfield Tech’s Tyler Starzyk finished with 14, and Tigers’ Vlad Biley had 12.
