WEST SPRINGFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team blitzed West Springfield 13-1 in its season opener Tuesday.
Westfield built a first-quarter 7-0 lead, led 9-0 at the half, and 13-0 after three quarters. The Bombers silenced West Side’s offense until the Terriers squeaked out a late fourth quarter score.
Sam Scarfo (2 goals, 5 assists), Zach Gentle (3 goals, 1 assist), Matt Chlastawa (1 goal, 3 assists), Ben Geschwind (2 goals), Justin Halls (2 goals), Garrett Fitzgerald (1 goal), Zach Kuzon (1 goal), and Austin Hodgdon (1 goal).
Jake Cupak finished with six saves in net for Westfield.
