WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls’ soccer team continues to inch closer and closer to the postseason.
Westfield kept its WMass D1 tournament hopes alive with a big 4-0 shutout of Chicopee Comp Thursday night at Bullens Field.
Erin McDermott scored two goals, and Beka Sullivan and Annie Brozini had one apiece to lead the Bombers (6-6-3), who improved to .500 and kept their league title hopes alive as well.
Santiago opened the scoring, thanks to a pass from Jessie Pratt. McDermott notched consecutive goals off of two passes from Rebecca Sullivan to provide Westfield with a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Brozini provided the insurance in the second half. Karly DIltz earned an assist.
Westfield goalie Jules Sharon made six saves to earn a shutout.
The Bombers close out the regular season on the road against Northampton Monday night, and home against Pittsfield Friday evening.
