WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ volleyball team really is soaring these days.

Westfield completed a nearly 45-minute, lightning-quick rout of Ware 3-0 Friday night at home. The Bombers dispatched the Indians 25-11, 25-10, 25-18.

Sophomore outside hitter Ruslan Kontsimal had his breakout game of the young season, recording seven kills and seven digs for Westfield (2-1).

Bombers’ Eric Shilyuk (6 kills, 6 digs, 3 aces) and Ivan Zuev (15 digs) also delivered solid efforts.

“We continued to be pretty effective offensively,” Westfield coach Tyler Wingate said. “Again, we wanted to limit our mistakes, and did.”

“We were even better offensively than on Monday,” Wingate said in reference to a 3-set sweep of Putnam. “We had a good week of practice. It’s nice to see them play well.”
