WESTFIELD – The Westfield Bombers high school football team is now selling team apparel online, with orders being delivered directly to the buyer’s home, until Aug. 29.
Sweatshirts, t-shirts, pants, shorts, and other team apparel are available at www.atlanticsportswear.com. Westfield Middle School Assistant Principal Karri Kells said that orders should be shipped out two days after the online store closes.
“They can get it personalized with their name or favorite number,” said Kells.
She noted that the funds raised from the merchandise sales will go towards the bombers team expenses. That includes senior banquets, travel expenses and food for the team. Kells added that the team is trying to purchase a new helmet rack as well.
In addition to the merchandise sales, the team is also selling Westfield discount cards that give the buyer a discount at many restaurants and stores in the city. These include Mama Cakes, Pizza Towne Happy Nails, and more than a dozen other locations.
“The team will be holding a ‘blitz day’ on Sept. 7,” said Kells, “They will be going out to their neighborhoods and trying to sell the cards.”
The card has several small plastic tabs with certain businesses listed on them along with the discount one can receive. The cards can be used multiple times and can be put on a key ring.
The team is also the recipient of other local fundraisers within the city. In a post on Facebook, Westfield Bombers Football announced a donation day at the Shortstop Bar and Grill. On Sept. 9, 15 percent of the bill will be donated to the team upon presentation of the event’s flyer.
The 2019 Westfield Bombers varsity high school football season begins on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Bullens Field. The Bombers will face Taconic High School in the opening game for the school year.
