Bombers slip past Spartans

EAST LONGMEADOW – Meghan Bowen recorded a hat trick and the Westfield High School field hockey team slipped past East Longmeadow 4-1 on a rain-soaked Wednesday afternoon. It was the second straight victory for the Bombers (3-6), who have put a six-game losing streak firmly in the rearview mirror.
Claire Griffith also scored a goal for Westfield. Bombers’ Lara Finnie finished with two assists, and Abby Daley had one.
Westfield goalie Lindsey Brown delivered a solid effort. The Bombers keeper made five saves.
Westfield returns to action Friday seeking to extend its win streak. The Bombers will host Frontier at Boardman Field at 3:30 p.m.

GOLF
Westfield Technical Academy 19, Mohawk 5

It was another dominating win as the Westfield Technical Academy golf team staved off elimination for the second straight day. The Tigers improved to 5-6 with two matches remaining.
Tanner Levasseur, Riley Sullivan, and Hunter Loomis each swept their matches, 4-0. Jake Collier scored 3.5 points and Dave Romani added three. Loomis was the low Tiger with 42. Sullivan shot a 44.

Westfield def. Chicopee Comp, 3-0

Westfield completed Western League play unbeaten (8-0) for the second straight year. The Bombers were led by Viktoria Pavlyuk (12 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs), Irelis Rodriguez (8 kills, 10 digs), Grace Regan (7 kills, 2 aces), Emily Gelinas (8 kills, 4 aces), Brigid Moriarty (29 assists), and Yanaira Henry (7 digs, 3 aces).
