Bombers soar to 9-0

SPRINGFIELD – Westfield High School improved to 9-0 overall, 4-0 North Division with yet another sweeping victory, this time on the road. The Bombers defeated Sabis 25-15, 25-15, 25-22.
Luis Castro (32 assists, 9 digs), Shane Kiendzior (7 kills, 3 digs), James Pavlyuk (14 kills, 4 aces, 4 digs), Javier Santos (8 kills) and Alex Robitaille (2 aces, 6 digs) fueled the latest win for Westfield.
Westfield returns to action Friday at home against Holyoke at 6:30 p.m.

Athol def. Southwick 24-16, 25-27, 26-24, 25-20
Chris Baker (8 kills, 5 digs, 3 blocks), Nick Brown (16 assists, 7 digs), Chance Tang (22 digs), Kacper Kisala (14 digs, 4 kills, 2 aces, 1 block), and Tim McGrath (3 kills, 3 digs, 2 aces, 3 blocks) contributed for Southwick.

Southwick pitcher Jillian Gentile struck out 10 batters over six innings, and also produced a double with the bat.
Sara Hough homered and pitched a two-strikeout inning of relief for Southwick. Rams’ Sara Smith had two hits and two walks, and Abbey Chevalier had two hits.
