WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School softball team is unbeaten no more.
Minnechaug upended Westfield 12-8 in damp, high-scoring contest Thursday. The Falcons got off to commanding lead early, and seized the majority of its opportunities.
“It’s not discouraging,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said, following his team’s first loss of the season. “They’re a pretty good hitting team.”
Westfield (14-1) managed some hits of its own. Jess Pratt (3-for-4, RBI), Katelyn Puza (2-4, RBI), Syd Ezold (2-4), Maddy Atkocaitis (hit, RBI), Kate Menard (hit, RBI), Sarah McNerney (hit, RBI), Lexi Minicucci (hit, RBI), Jules Sharon (hit), and Macee Candiano (hit) contributed for the Bombers at the plate.
“We kept coming back, and coming back, and coming back,” coach Stella said. “We just ran out of time. We need to regroup and get things back on track.”
