WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls’ lacrosse team put forth a stunning effort, and it paid dividends.
An trio of Westfield players put together an offensive surge, the defense bent but did not break, and a cast of teammates combined their efforts for a thrilling 19-12 upset of West Springfield Thursday.
Rachel Gelina (5 goals, 1 assist), Marissa Otero (2 goals, 3 assists), and Olivia Chaoush (3 goals, 1 assist) led the offense for Westfield. Bombers’ goalie Maileen Kozak recorded 14 saves in net to help preserve the victory.
Rudi Spano tallied a hat trick for West Springfield.

Pacers rally past Saints
Chicopee 13, St. Mary 10

Kayla Calf scored a game-high five goals for Chicopee, which stormed back from an 8-5 halftime deficit to defeat St. Mary at Boardman Field.

Jillian Watson (3 goals, 1 assist), Aisling Butler (2 goals, 2 assists), Erin Dow (2 goals, 1 assist), Lauren Chapdelaine (2 goals), and Maddie Rix (1 goal, 1 assist) contributed for St. Mary.
Saints’ goalie Karissa Foley finished with six saves.
