WESTFIELD – First, the good news. Westfield High School’s top tennis player, senior Loeiz Briand, completed an unbeaten regular season on Memorial Day.
Unfortunately, Briand was the lone winner for the WHS boys’ tennis team Monday as East Longmeadow won the overall match in the Whip City 4-1. The loss eliminated the Bombers (9-11) from tournament contention on the season’s final day.
Briand defeated East Longmeadow’s Ryan Powell 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 16-0 in the regular season. The Bombers’ No. 1 player was also the runner-up in the recent individuals’ championship.
