SPRINGFIELD – Freshman forward Holly Brouillette of Burlington scored three second-half goals to power Westfield State University to a 6-3 victory over Western New England University in the Owls’ season opener on Wednesday evening, Sept. 4.
Brouillette accounted for all of the scoring in the second half as the rivals battled to a 3-3 first-half deadlock. Brouillette scored the game winning goal 1:19 into the second half with an assist from Kelly Kenney.
Western New England took a 2-0 lead seven minutes into the game, then the Owls scored three unanswered goals by Emily Williams, Danielle Grenon and Kinney. Brouillette assisted on Kinney’s goal for her game-high seven points.
WNE tied the score on Jessica’s Scannapieco’s second goal with 1:11 remaining in the first half.
