Buchanan nets 100

SOUTH HADLEY – The Westfield High School girls lacrosse team celebrated a victory, and a slice of history during Thursday’s contest at South Hadley.
Kylie Buchanan scored her 100th and 101st career goals against South Hadley in a 15-7 rout of South Hadley. She also had an assist.
Lara Finnie and Mackenzie Liptak scored three goals apiece for Westfield, which led 12-3 at the half. Bombers’ Morgan Anjos had two goals.
It was the first league win for Westfield (4-3 overall, 1-1 league).

Bresett, Hoosac overwhelm STM
Hoosac Valley 17, St. Mary’s 5

Claudia Bresett had five goals and one assist to lead Hoosac Valley to victory
Sam Moran and Skylar Duda each had two goals to lead St. Mary. Paighton Ramos also had a goal for the Saints, as well as a few interceptions and some ground balls. Summer Duda had an assist and Caitlyn Potts had several ground ball controls.
St. Mary’s goalie April Warner finished with nine saves.

BOYS LACROSSE
Westfield 15, Amherst 4

Race Kiniry (4 goals), Nick Clausen (3 goals, 2 assists), Dan Antonellis (3 goals, 1 assist), Cam Theriault (1 goal, 3 assists), Will Cameron (1 goal, 1 assist), Christian Nalepinski (1 goal, 1 assist), Ryan Metcalf (1 goal), and Tyler Shrewsbury (1 goal) led the Westfield offensive attack.
Westfield goalie Nick made eight saves.
Aidan Boyle, Gavin Carzello, and Kris Meneses caused several turnovers and helped with ground balls. Cam Foster won the majority of the faceoffs.

SOFTBALL
Westfield 10, Longmeadow 2

Westfield powered its way to victory with an eight-run, fifth-inning explosion at home.
Carly James (3-for-4, double, run, RBI), Erin Gour (2-for-2, walk, run, 2 RBIs), Emma LaPoint (hit, 2 walks, 2 runs), Diana Daly (hit, 2 runs), Carina Franco (hit, run, 2 RBIs) Ava Cichonski (walk, run, RBI) and Amber Garfield (walk, run) provided the bulk of the Westfield offense.
Erin Gour limited Longmeadow’s offensive output with a strong showing on the mound for Westfield. Gour allowed two runs on four hits, striking out eight and walking none.

GIRLS TENNIS
Bombers edge Spartans
Westfield 3, East Longmeadow 2

Westfield’s first and second singles players’ Clara Hink and Brianna Snevetsov downed Anna Hugney and Julia Vivenzio, respectively, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0.
Brigid Moriarty and Thea Glenzel won at first doubles for Westfield, defeating East Longmeadow’s Gillian Bulter and Ainsley Smith, 6-1, 6-2.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Westfield def. Sabis, 19-25, 25-5, 25-12, 25-13

James Pavlyuk (17 kills, 10 aces), Ethan Flaherty (9 kills), Ryan Rix (9 kills, 3 aces), Riley Coughlin (8 kills), Eric Yurtuc (42 assists, 2 aces), and Mike Bowen (6 digs, 1 ace) led Westfield, which rallied after losing the first set at home.
The Bombers improved to 9-1 overall, 5-0 North Division.
