“To have young kids stepping up is big for us,” Westfield Tech baseball head coach Bob Eak said. “They’ve have made impacts in all of our games so far. This is a special win because of all our injuries.”
Westfield Tech has managed to improve to 2-1 despite being hobbled by what now amounts to nearly a half dozen injuries. The Tigers returned this season, having lost four seniors to graduation, which accounted for nearly 50 percent of the offense.
“We’re really spreading the wins around,” Eak said. “It’s a different kid stepping up each game. …To see some of these guys stepping up is surprising so far.”
