WESTFIELD – Stanley Park is bringing back events for families in July, including its free Sunday Night Concert Series and its weekly Friday Mornings for Children.

The events begin July 9 with “Big Joe the Storyteller presents: Ticklish Tales and Silly Stories from Around the World.”

According to organizers, this is a storytelling trip around the world with Big Joe the Storyteller’s new show filled with folktales, fables, and fairytales from around the world that will make you laugh, chuckle, giggle, and smile.

According to a press release, “There will be stories, there will be puppets, and there will be lots and lots of fun.”

Friday Mornings for Children are held in the Beveridge Pavilion Annex from 10 to 11 a.m., weather permitting, and are free of charge. Chairs will be provided and blankets are welcome

The Sunday Night Concerts kick-off July 11 with the 91 South band.

After a year off due to the pandemic, Stanley Park Managing Director Robert McKean said he is excited to bring activities back to the community.

“We are pleased to be able to bring back our Sunday Night Concerts,” he said, noting that “seating will be available in the Beveridge Pavilion with spacing a bit more than normal and also in our open field known as our ‘Stanleywood’.”

There are six concerts this summer, each under the Beveridge Pavilion starting at 6 p.m.

91 South is a five-piece band with a versatile lead singer backed by a keyboardist, percussionist, and lead and bass guitarists. They play a variety of music from Elvis to Van Halen and many musicians in between.

Chairs will be provided and a food service will be available at the concerts.
