WESTFIELD – Westfield State women’s lacrosse rolled to a 19-7 win over Bridgewater State on Senior Night on Saturday at Alumni Field, as the Owls set a school record for wins (15) and clinched the outright Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title with a perfect 7-0 mark in league play.
Westfield State (15-2) will be the number 1 seed in the conference tournament when the pairings are announced and will host a semifinal round game on Thursday, May3 at 7:00 p.m.
Bridgewater (11-6, 5-2 MASCAC) will be the number three seed in the tournament.
Westfield got four goals and an assist from senior attacker Samantha Coyle. The game was tight for the opening 12 minutes, as Bridgewater’s Gabby Reinold scored off a feed from Brooke Buckner to cut the Owls lead to 4-3 with 18:27 to play in the first half.
From there, the Owls scored the next 11 goals to roll out to a 15-3 advantage at the 4:30 mark when Sydney Lambert scored an unassisted goal.
The Owls led 15-5 at the half, and substituted liberally throughout the second half. Lambert and Alexa Tonelli added three goals each. Maria Woodall went the distance in goal, and made seven saves.
