WESTFIELD – No that’s not an error you’re seeing right now, the Westfield High School football team will play the Minnechaug Falcons twice in three weeks.
Westfield earned the third seed in the West Division 3 tournament with a 6-2 record. The Bombers will take on second-seeded Minnechaug (7-1) Friday night in Wilbraham at 7.
Westfield opened the season with five straight wins, including a miraculous comeback against Leominster, before losing two of their last three. The Bombers fell to the Longmeadow Lancers Friday night 35-26.
Westfield and Minnechaug will meet again on Thanksgiving Day in the Whip City.

CORRECTION: The final score of the Westfield-Longmeadow football game was incorrectly reported in our Sat., Oct. 27 edition. The score provided to The Westfield News was inaccurate, and could not be verified in person as I attended two soccer games (Westfield, St. Mary) with historic and postseason implications Friday night. Bombers football coach Rob Parent did not return our call Friday seeking verification of the final score. This is why we stress to all of our local coaches and their respective athletic directors the importance of reporting scores on a daily basis – home or away, win or lose, in a timely manner – to avoid mistakes such as these. – CP
