GRANVILLE – Dorothy T. (Pitoniak) York, 78, of Granville passed away Monday July 23, 2012 at the Wingate of West Springfield. She was born in Westfield March 12, 1934 the daughter of the late Jack J. and Elizabeth (Walsh) Pitoniak.
She was educated in the Westfield schools, a graduate of the St. Mary’s High School, and later a graduate of the AIC College in Springfield. Dorothy was employed as a Special Needs Teacher in Westfield and Chicopee for many years. She also worked for the Springfield Girl’s Club. She with her husband were market gardeners and were vendors at local Farmers Markets. In her later years Dorothy worked as a cook and office assistant to several pastors at the St. Peter’s/St. Casmir’s Rectory in Westfield. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s/St. Casmir’s Parish and was a member of the St. Peter’s Rosary Society.
Dorothy’s beloved husband William E. York passed away in 1992. She is survived by many loving cousins and friends.
Calling hours will take place Thursday, July 26th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St (Rt 20), Westfield. The funeral for Dorothy will take place Friday at St Peter’s/St Casimir’s Church, 33 State Street, Westfield at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
