HUNTINGTON – Gateway’s Curtis Dowers scored in the 77th minute for the only goal of a boys’ soccer game, the game-winner in a 1-0 win over visiting Westfield. Spencer Rock – in his first-ever varsity start – made four saves (including two very big ones) to earn a shutout for the Gators (11-4-2).
Robert Bernadara made six saves for Westfield, including a kicksave on a direct kick in the box in the 71st minute.
Gateway next plays Granby on senior night in Huntington Monday at 6 p.m.
