To the Editor from Lynn Bannon

Dear Westfield residents,
We are so fortunate to have an amazing array of dedicated local nonprofit organizations that help care for our children, families, schools, libraries, the arts, the environment, health, recreation and more. You may have read something about a fundraising program called Valley Gives, a one-day, 24-hour online fundraising event tomorrow to bring in donations and raise awareness of local nonprofits. What you may not know is that members of an informal group of nonprofits right here in Greater Westfield called the Nonprofit and Volunteer Network of Greater Westfield have been collaborating on publicizing this one-day event and helping each other reach out to our community.
Tomorrow from 6 a.m.-noon, volunteers will be at the Westfield Dunkin Donuts on North Elm St., Main St. and at Little River Plaza raising awareness and donations for local nonprofits. Also tomorrow, Clemenza’s (91 Elm St. in Westfield) is hosting a pizza party at 6 p.m. with proceeds going to local nonprofits participating in Valley Gives. These volunteers have even assembled a gift basket of Westfield-related items for a drawing for those who donate online to the local groups below on Valley Gives day tomorrow!
Please go on line to valleygivesday.org tomorrow from 12:01 a.m. to midnight to make your donations to the local nonprofits of your choice during this 24-hour giving event. To learn more about the program, visit valleygives.razoo.com.
Local nonprofit organizations participating in Valley Gives include Amelia Park Children’s Museum, Amelia Park Ice Arena & Garden, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield, Citizens Scholarship Foundation/Dollars for Scholars, Domus, Inc., Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, Friends of the Westfield Athenaeum, Stanley Park, The Carson Center for Human Services, Westfield Foundation for Education, Westfield Museum, Inc., Westfield Spanish American Association, YMCA of Greater Westfield and more. We hope you will show your support for your local nonprofits that contribute so much to our region. Thank you.
