WILBRAHAM – It now appears that the Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team has awakened a sleeping giant.
Westfield knocked Minnechaug for a loop Tuesday, taking a 3-2 lead into the second quarter and a 4-4 tie into the half before the Falcons exploded for six third-period goals.
Minnechaug outscored Westfield 6-1 in the third period, and tacked on four insurance goals in the fourth period en route to a 14-6 victory.

Andrew Fidalgo (6 goals, 1 assist), Chase Beauchamp (3 goals, 4 assists), and Sam Christman (3 goals, 4 assists) tallied seven points apiece to lead Minnechaug.
The Falcons’ goalie, Brett Jones, made 12 saves.
Matt Chlastawa provided the bulk of the Westfield offense, notching three goals and two assists. Anthony Sullivan (2 goals), Max Maggipinto (2 assists), Mason Balch (1 assist) and Mike Visconti (1 assist) also contributed for the Bombers.

Pacers top Saints
Chicopee 13, St. Mary 4

Dan Vazquez (4 goals, 2 assists) and John Baker (3 goals, 2 assists) led Chicopee past St. Mary. Aaron Blanchard, Sam LaBombard, Matt Wurster, and Padraig Smith scored one goal apiece for the Saints.

Southwick 5, Ware 3

Kate Sylvia (3-for-4, two runs), Tori DellaGuistina (2-for-4, two runs), Steph Devine (2-for-4, RBI), and Nikki Willey (2-for-4, four RBIs) helped fuel Southwick’s offensive joust of Ware.
Emily Lachtara silenced Ware on the mound for Southwick. Lachtara scattered five hits over seven complete innings, striking out 10 batters, walking one, and hitting one.
