AMHERST – St. Mary pitcher Nate Bonini struck out 10 batters en route to tossing a one-hitter, and the second-seeded Saints silenced No. 6 Hopkins Academy 7-1 in a West Division 4 baseball semifinal Wednesday at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

St. Mary’s (20-2) led from the outset, scoring one run in the first inning and two in the second inning before exploding for four runs in the third to take an early 7-0 lead. Hopkins scraped together a run in the sixth.
Drew Collins (double, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) and John Daley (2 doubles, RBI) led St. Mary with two hits apiece. Saints’ Matt Masciadrelli tripled, scored a run, and plated three RBIs; Bonini scored twice; and, Hunter Authier scored once.
St. Mary advances to the title game where it will take on the winner of No. 1 Ware (19-2)-No. 4 Granby (18-4) Saturday morning at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst at 11.
