WESTFIELD- The Westfield Fire Commission will meet Monday evening for their first regularly scheduled meeting of 2019.

The only major agenda items concern a possible vote to promote Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Egloff to Fire Chief. The first major item will bring the commission to executive session in order to discuss the character, reputation, professional competence, and any complaints or charges made against Egloff.

When the commission returns to open session, they will discuss the options for filling the vacant Chiefs position. The position was left vacant when Chief Mary Regan retired last July after 31 years with the Westfield Fire Department and seven years as Chief. Andy Hart has been filling the role as Acting Fire Chief while a new Chief was being sought.

Egloff was the only name listed on the Westfield 2018 Fire Chief’s Series Exam, meaning he is the only person eligible for a vote. The agenda states that the commission will undergo, “potential consideration and vote to temporarily promote Deputy Chief Patrick Egloff pursuant to the acting chief Fire Superior collective bargaining agreement.
